We all had a wonderful time celebrating the ‘Cultures of Coleridge’ this half term. It’s incredible that there are over 50 different languages spoken at our school, and it was fantastic to celebrate each and every one of them! As Nelson Mandela famously said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
The children loved meeting other children from across the school with whom they share a language. It was so inspiring to see children talking, joking and having fun in their languages and talking passionately about their shared cultures, heritages and identities. Throughout the week, we welcomed many parents and relatives who were able to share their family stories, read books and even do some cooking with the children. Thank you to all of you for sharing in this wonderfully positive week with us. Here are just a few photos to give you an idea about what was happening across the school.
