Over the last week, Year 3 children and parents have been donating warm winter clothing to send to a refugee camp in Bulgaria on the border with Turkey. The Harmanli Refugee Camp Play School was selected as a natural recipient of the clothes following parental exposure to ITV’s ‘Forgotten Children’ documentary, which highlighted the plight of refugee children.
Children have been talking about the challenges facing refugees in their classrooms and it’s fantastic that they were able to put their concerns for others into positive action! Thank you to everyone who donated clothes and helped with the sorting. Particular thanks go to Lorna Stockwood, a Year 3 parent, who initiated the project and spurred us into action.
