06 Mar Authors and Poets visit Coleridge for World Book Day
This year’s World Book Day has been as exciting as ever! Children in the infants were lucky enough to meet Ifeoma Onyefulu, an author whose books are renowned for their positive images of Africa, and for celebrating both traditional village and contemporary urban life. In the juniors, the children worked with Abe Gibson, an inspiring poet and storyteller from London who even managed to get all 480 children reciting poetry together!
Once again, we had a delightful array of costumes to admire and it has been great fun hearing about the children’s favourite stories as well. Many classes were also lucky enough to have parents and grandparents come in to read stories that are important to them. Thank you to everyone who got involved!
We hope the children are enjoying completing their Reading Bingo challenges and that they have fun listening to the staff podcasts online. You can listen to World Book Day podcasts from staff on the Coleridge Families Soundcloud page.
