13 Nov Bee-licious Cakes Raise Money for Observation Hive
Last week, a group of Coleridge students, led by Anya from Year 6, with the help of Ella, Benji, Angus, Rowan, Molly and Martha organised a cake sale to raise funds for Coleridge Bee Club. Only 20 children currently have the opportunity to study our bees each year, so Anya has launched a campaign to buy an observation hive, which will allow us to bring the bees into the classrooms.
The cake-sale was a tremendous success, with beautiful home-made cookies and cakes including a three-tier skep cake, covered in tiny hand-made fondant bees, and two spectacular Victoria sponge cream cakes made by Mr Skrein, along with vegan bee-biscuits made by Ms Emms.
The children and a fantastic group of parents managed to raise an amazing £254.50.
This means we’re over halfway to our target of £420, so a huge thanks to everyone who got involved by donating or buying cakes or helping on the day. If you would like to donate to this project, please bring donations of cash or cheques to either school office. Thanks!
