21 Oct Black History Month – Something Inside So Strong
The theme of our Black History Month has been ‘Finding a Voice, Telling a Story‘. Children this half term have been learning how music can give people a voice by providing a powerful means to tell a story, spread a message or protest for something they believe in. Over the last few weeks, children have been learning the song Something Inside So strong by Labbi Siffre. Today, all 840 children gathered in the school hall on West and sang the song together. The children sounded fantastic and I had goose bumps listening to them all. Whilst this recording sounds great, it doesn’t quite capture the magical atmosphere in the hall when the children and staff were all singing at once. Enjoy!
