27 Nov International Day of People with Disabilities
Next Thursday 3rd December is the International Day of People with Disabilities. We will be marking this in school with a series of activities, assemblies and class discussions for the children to participate in. We also intend to use the following texts to support and develop children’s understanding of disability.
As part of a longer term initiative to improve awareness of what it means to be differently abled, we are also creating a new ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ section in our school library. If you would like to donate a book, click on the link below; a group of parents have created this list, in collaboration with Pickled Pepper Books:
Use the code Coleridge20 at the checkout for a 20% Education discount. All books donated will be collected and brought up to school by Pickled Pepper. A few self-published books on the list are not available at PPB and can be purchased from Amazon instead. If you choose one of those books, don’t forget to use Amazon Smile, which supports Coleridge Families.
By further enriching the school library and our curriculum, we are continuing our work to create a new generation of people that are more prepared to navigate differences with acceptance, knowledge, respect and kindness.
