20 Apr Junior Choir Play The Royal Albert Hall
April 1st was a very unusual last day of term for our Year 5 and 6 Junior Choir singers. Leaving school after lunch to travel to Kensington, they joined children from schools all over Haringey to spend the afternoon rehearsing, and then the evening performing, in the Royal Albert Hall. Haringey Schools Music Festival was a concert organised by Haringey Music Service to showcase the huge range of young musical talent in the borough.
Our singers joined forces with hundreds of other choirs, orchestras and bands to perform Songs for Unsung Heroes, a set of four songs written especially for the show. We had been practising the songs in choir rehearsals, singing assemblies, in class and at home, and the children impressively knew not only all the lyrics and dance moves, but also the sign language for one of the songs. It was a long day and a late evening finish, but everyone enjoyed both performing and watching all the other musicians in such a special venue.
Check out the videos below for some footage our of choir in action.
