If you think your child has Coronavirus, please contact the school immediately and book a test. Children must not come into the school if they have symptoms, and they will be sent home to self-isolate if they develop them in school. All children can be tested, including children under 5, but children aged 11 and under will need help from their parents/carers if using a home testing kit. The affected child will need to self-isolate for 7 days and direct family members for 14 days.
Your child will not be allowed back in school until the test is confirmed as negative. If your child returns a negative test, and they feel well and no longer have symptoms, they can stop self-isolating. However, please be mindful that they could still have another virus, such as a cold or flu. In which case, it is still best to avoid contact with the school until they are better. Other members of the household can stop self-isolating. Please notify the school of this result.
If your child is confirmed as positive, all family members will need to self-isolate for 14 days. Please contact the school immediately after diagnosis in order for the school to make appropriate arrangements in respect of the closure of bubbles.
You should also consider alerting people who you do not live with, but have had close contact with within the last 48 hours, to let them know your child has symptoms of coronavirus COVID-19.
Following a positive test result, you will receive a request by text, email or phone to log into the NHS Test and Trace service website and provide information about recent close contacts
Please read the official guidance for more information.
