24 May School Council Visit To Parliament
On Wednesday 11th May, Junior School Council visited Parliament to have a tour of the Palace of Westminster. The children learnt a great deal about democracy and how MPs and Lords make difficult decisions. Our tour guide told us lots of interesting facts and we stood in the exact spot where Charles I stood trial and was sentenced to death. Sadly, we did not meet the Prime Minister, but we did tour both Chambers and learn about the important work they do there.
The previous week, we were also fortunate enough to meet Catherine West MP who came to school to answer all our questions. She explained about how parliament works and told us about her meeting with the Queen and her naughty corgis! A big thank you to the office of Catherine West, who helped to organise this exciting opportunity.
