On Thursday 17th June, a group of ex-pupils from Highgate Wood School visited Coleridge to do an assembly for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. The Year 9 girls are all members of the Feminist Group, run by their Sociology teacher Neil Robertson. The meeting provides a safe space for between 20-30 girls to meet once a week to discuss issues relating to gender equality which matter to them.
The girls approached Coleridge to ask if they could write an assembly and some and talk to Coleridge children about gender equality. They felt that knowing about feminism and gender equality would be really beneficial for pupils as they make their transition from primary to secondary school. The presentation was informative, interesting and delivered with confidence and passion. Coleridge children had the opportunity to ask the girls lots of insightful and thoughtful questions. There was also lots of interest about joining the group when they move on to secondary school.
