Our Nursery is a warm, nurturing space for children aged three and four. We offer both part-time and full-time places, giving families the flexibility to choose what works best for them. The Nursery is self contained space within the school, which has its own indoor and outdoor space for the children to explore.
At Coleridge Nursery, children are motivated and challenged through a curriculum that is exciting, hands-on and rooted in real experiences. We build strong relationships with every child, helping them feel safe and confident to explore, take risks and develop independence.
Our learning environment is carefully designed to balance child-led play with adult-guided teaching. Each week, teachers plan sessions that include early maths and literacy, using high-quality texts and topics linked to the children’s own experiences, from changing seasons to family celebrations and local events. Children also explore art, science, history, music and the wider world.
Inside and outside, the space is organised workshop-style with open-ended resources that children can access independently. Visual labels help them make choices and take ownership of their play.
Children are encouraged to try new things and persevere with challenges. Our woodwork area is a good example of this, children learn to use real tools safely to create and problem-solve. Through our continuous provision, they can return to projects over time, deepening their understanding and skills.
Outdoor play happens every day, in all weather. Children spend time growing plants, observing nature and developing care for the environment.
We provide an inclusive curriculum and environment where every child feels represented. Our books, toys and learning themes celebrate diversity and reflect the world around us.
