Reporting Absences

It is important that your child attend school for every session that they are able to, but sometimes there may be reasons why they cannot.

Requesting Planned Absence

Daily attendance at school is vital for your child to achieve their full potential, and permission for absence from school will only be granted for medical, religious or exceptional circumstances (please read our Attendance Policy on our Policies page for more details). To request absence from school during term time, please complete the Request Pupil Leave of Absence form and submit it to the school office.

Please note, that submitting a form does not guarantee that an absence will be approved. We recommend that you wait for the head teacher to approve your request before booking any travel plans.

Reporting Sickness Absence

If your child is off sick, please notify us by emailing absences@coleridgeprimary.net, or through the Report an Absence feature in Parent Hub, as soon as you can, so we can notify the class teacher and record the absence on the class register.

48 Hour Sickness Rule

If your child has experienced diarrhoea and/or vomiting, they must stay home until they have been symptom-free for 48 hours and are feeling well before returning to school. If your child is unwell at school, we will contact you or your emergency contact to collect them as soon as possible.

Please note that your child should remain at home for a full 48 hours from the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea before returning to school. For example, if your child becomes unwell at lunchtime on Tuesday, they should not come back to school until lunchtime on Thursday, provided they have had no further symptoms.
