Read All About It – A Term of Reading Celebrations

28 March 2024

This term, we have been celebrating reading and books well beyond World Book Day! Read on to find out just some of the things we have been up to…

Children in Reception and Year 6 enjoyed buddying up as reading pals for an afternoon, and shared their favourite stories together. The Reception children also got to show off some of their new reading skills!

The infants were lucky enough to have a visit from the brilliant author Kelechi Okafor. She talked about her new book, Strong Like Me, which is about finding your own ways to be strong. Many children even had their copy of the book signed!

The fun times didn’t end there. Last week, Year 5 and 6 children travelled to Ally Pally for the Alexandra Palace Children’s Book awards. The children have been busy reading the shortlist all term and finally got to vote for their favourite and see who won. We even had a workshop with one of the authors and got to ask her all sorts of questions!

Finally, the winners of our Reading Bingo competition were announced! Huge congratulations to 2B and 4P who won the class prizes for completing the most challenges and to Callum and Casper who both won individual prizes for successfully completing all nine.
