It has been a very busy term for the Coleridge School Council. In June, they visited the Houses of Parliament. As it was just prior to the General Election, it was very empty and meant we were lucky enough to get a full tour of the Palace of Westminster, and were able to go inside the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Children learnt all about how the British Parliament and democracy works today. They also took part in a workshop where they learnt more about the Suffragette movement.
A few weeks ago, the School Council successfully ran the Polling Station for the Coleridge Election. They gathered votes electronically from all children across the school. The School Council were fantastic at showing children how to cast their vote.
Recently, the school council have been analysing the results from our summer pupil survey. With the help of Ms Jones & Ms Davies, they have picked out key themes that they want to look at more next year, to help improve the school.
Our Year 6 school council members will sadly be leaving us at the end of term. They have done a fantastic job! The rest of the school council will continue in their role next year, and will be having their first meeting straight after the summer break.
