Year 3 Explore Still Life with Kentridge and Herbst

13 February 2025

Year 3 have been extremely busy in their Art lessons this half term. They explored the work of William Kentridge, finding out about the many different means and media through which he creates his Art. Thinking about expressive qualities, like Kentridge, they used Indian ink to make some fabulous observational drawings of kitchen items.

Then, after Swedish Artist Alice Herbst, they cut out their drawings to make their own set-up for a still life. Thinking carefully about how they would like to express themselves and with a choice of media and papers, the children completed their project by creating the most individual and wonderfully observed kitchen still lives. Aren’t they amazing! Well done Year 3!
