Cultures of Coleridge – Whole School Singing

9 July 2024

As part of our work celebrating Cultures of Coleridge this year, we learned songs with positive messages that echo our Coleridge core values of being caring and inclusive. On Thursday June 27th, all 840 children from Reception to Year 6 gathered to perform and record their songs.

Reception and Key Stage 1 children sang “We’re All Amazing”, a song written after the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. This song conveys the message that our differences make us special and unique. Years 3 to 6 performed “Lean on Me” by the legendary black singer-songwriter Bill Withers, singing in beautiful two-part harmony. This song carries a strong message of hope and mutual support. Withers wrote it after moving to Los Angeles and missing the strong sense of community in his hometown.

We think both performances sound amazing, and we hope you enjoy them!
