In Year 2 the children have been learning about Henry Moore’s Miniatures (tiny sculptures). Before creating their own Artworks, the children learned some clay skills in a ‘Hand-forming Workshop’ which was a lot of fun! Then, just like Henry Moore, they explored and experimented with small, interestingly tactile, found natural forms such as stones and shells and small pieces of wood. Their explorations inspired their own miniature sculptures in clay.
The children learned a range of shading skills such as hatching, stippling and scumbling using pencil and charcoal in readiness for making expressive observational drawings of their Miniatures. Then they got to draw like Henry Moore and we think you’ll agree that the outcomes are pretty impressive! Great work Year 2.
