English

Coleridge offers a broad, balanced and creative English curriculum, focussed on achieving excellent standards in reading, writing and communication in all learners.

To fire the interest and enthusiasm of our young readers and writers, we draw on a range of rich and inspirational literacy sources, such as high quality texts, video clips, audio clips and illustrations. These are used to support and excite children in developing their reading and writing skills. The complex grammatical and compositional aspects of writing are all meaningfully embedded within our English units of work, whilst children’s creativity and imagination remain the driving force behind any piece of writing.

You can read more about how we teach writing in the objectives, plans and guidelines below.
