20 Mar Coronavirus Update – Key Worker Childcare
Though the school will be closed to the majority of children as of Monday 23rd March, we will continue to support key workers by offering them childcare during this period. Key workers are defined at this page on the government website.
This provision is dependent on being able to ensure the health and safety of the children in our care, and that of the staff team working with them.
It is important that you support the school by only using this service if you are a key worker, and you have no alternative childcare provision. Please understand that we have a duty of care to ensure that the numbers in school are kept to a minimum in order to mitigate the risk of the Coronavirus spreading.
The service we are planning to offer will run from 9.00am to 3.00pm each day, and will be childcare to enable you to work. It will not be possible for the school to offer structured lessons, but children who attend will have the opportunity to do the learning activities provided by your class teacher.
Your child will need to bring a packed lunch to school each day.
In order that we can plan for appropriate levels of staffing, you will need to indicate which days of childcare you will require in advance of the start of each week. Please click here for the Key Worker Childcare Form and submit this to admin@coleridgeprimary.net before 1:00pm each Friday (beginning 20th March).
For the service to stay open, it is essential for you to ensure that you collect your child promptly at 3.00pm each day. For this reason, you must also include on the form, the contact details of someone local who can collect your child in the event of you being late.
We are committed to supporting you as key workers, and we will run this service for as long as it is possible. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to keep the school open indefinitely, and would advise that you begin to make alternative plans in the event that we do need to close the school.
The government has expressed a desire for the school to remain open over the Easter holidays and we will endeavour to do so. However, it may not be possible due to staffing levels. We will be reviewing the provision on an ongoing basis.
If you require early morning or late afternoon childcare beyond what the school is offering, please contact Sarah Miller at FairPlay fairplaychildcareltd@gmail.com. Alternatively, Sarah can be contacted on 07843 694 200. Places will be given to children of key workers only and will be subject to availability.
Yours sincerely,
Leon Choueke
