27 Nov How We Teach Reading Evening
Recently at Coleridge we held a curriculum evening focussing on now we teach reading at school, from Nursery to Year 2. There were talks explaining the variety of strategies we use to teach decoding skills, along with the methods we employ to support the children in developing their inference skills. Along with this, useful tips were shared on how to best hear your child read.
There will be another reading evening at 7pm on Thursday 21st January, here the focus will be on how we teach reading from Year 3 to Year 6, with the emphasis this time on how we develop the children’s fluency and pace in their reading, and teaching them to read critically and with deeper understanding.
