01 Sep School Street In Effect From Thursday 2nd September
Hello everyone, we hope you had a great summer, and look forward to welcoming you back into school from tomorrow, Thursday 2nd September. For back to school information, including your new drop off and pickup points, see our Back To School page.
From tomorrow, our new School Street will be in operation, covering Haslemere and Waverly roads between 8.30 – 9.30am and 2.30 – 3.30pm. During this time, the only cars allowed to enter these areas will be a permit holders. This will create a safer, more pleasant environment where children, parents and staff can travel to school by walking, cycling or other forms of active travel without the air pollution and congestion caused by motor traffic.
The School Street will remain open to people walking and cycling, disabled badge holders and residents of the street, who will have a permit and will continue to have access via car. Anyone else who travels within the zone by car during the operating times will receive a penalty charge fee. Emergency services vehicles will continue to have access to the street at all times.
The school street is a six month experiment by Haringey council. For more information on School Streets, including how to obtain an exemption permit and to feed back on the scheme, please see the Haringey website.
