08 Jun Sports Report Summer Term 1 2016
A surprisingly busy few weeks started with our Tag Rugby teams involved in the Borough Championships, held on the AstroTurf of New River Sports Centre. Of the 22 school entering, Coleridge achieved silver medals in both the boys’ and the girls’ tournaments.

Three days later a mixed squad entered the 3 x 3 Haringey Basketball Tournament at Greig City Academy. The team once again achieved the silver position, this time beating 22 other schools.

Next, the athletes were in action in the Haringey Quad Kids event where teams of four had to all compete in a range of disciplines across track and field. Our team achieve a memorable fourth place, against 31 other schools.
Towards the end of the half term, a squad of ten cricketers, five boys and five girls, competed on the AstroTurf of Highgate Wood School in the Highgate Wood Primary School Kwik Crick Tournament. This time they returned to school wearing gold medals.

The following day a team of two boys and two girls, all from Year Four, competed in the Haringey Lower Juniors Tennis Tournament at New River. They achieved second position, in a field of 22 schools.

Throughout the seven weeks, our two school netball teams played weekly matches against ten teams from other local schools. After some hard fought battles, our Blue Team achieved fourth position. The Yellow team, for whom it was the first chance to play competitively, gained some valuable experience and came tenth.
During curriculum time, in addition to our sports specialists, Mario, Chris and Philip, Year Five received coaching from a London Skolars trainer, and Year Two, tennis lessons from Highgate Tennis Club. Year Three continued with their swimming lessons at park Road Pool.
Next term sees our gymnasts compete in the London Youth Games, and our Year Five and Six footballers, athletes, cricketers, rugby players, and netballers once again competing. It promises to be yet another busy few weeks!
