As part of our ‘Circus’ topic, Year 2 have created short stop motion animations of exciting circus acts. The children worked collaboratively in small teams to design and make their circus characters and settings. They then used iPads to shoot their films – taking individual photos, frame by frame – gradually moving their characters a tiny bit each time in order to create movement.
Once the children had created their first ‘cut’, we watched the animations back and reflected on our learning. The children identified key ways to make their films even better, and then like true filmmakers, went back to re-shoot the films for the final version. We then put all the animations together to create a whole class film.
We hope you enjoy watching them as much as we enjoyed making them!
