09 Jul Healthy Living Week – July 12-16th 2021
What is it?
Each year at Coleridge we take part in a weeklong event where we pause our usual timetabled lessons and focus solely on the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of the children.
What will we be doing ?
As well as taking part in a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity each day, classes will be taking part in age specific:
- Personal Social Health Education lessons (PSHE)
- e-safety lessons
- water safety lessons
- a mix of general well-being lessons
- Relationships Education (RSE)
Five Day Walk to School Challenge
As a school, we are taking part in a 5-day Walk to School challenge, encouraging everyone to be more active and kinder to the planet! If you live some distance away from school and usually drive or take public transport, then try one of these:
- Park and Stride – If you can’t walk the whole way, park 10 minutes away from school and complete the journey on foot!
- Hop Off – Hop Off public transport a stop or two early and walk the rest of the way.
- Walk, scoot and cycle – Choose a fun active way to get to school!
Each pupil will get an active diary, daily stickers and an end of week reward for taking part. We will be adding up the number of journeys made across the week in each class, and the most active class will be awarded bonus Golden Time on Friday the 16th July.
Sports Day 2021
Each year group will take part in a Sports Day on the school grounds with the standard 6 activities mapped out around the playgrounds on our East and West sites. As usual, there will be an overall colour winner in each year group and we will be awarding medals to the 5 highest scoring girls and boys in each year.
The event will take place during our school day so unfortunately, parents and carers will not be attending this year. This is to ensure we are continuing to minimise contact across the site and maintain social distancing wherever possible.
